| Bio : | Soren Anders is a New York composer, singer, producer and instrumentalist. Now focusing on his first solo project, Anders has written songs for violin, cello and keyboard, featuring his own hushed and understated vocals. Influenced by Baroque Pop musicians like Regina Spektor, Sufjan Stevens and Andrew Bird, the new songs range from dark contemplations of longing and death to virtuosic tangos. All the new songs are also being re-invented and grooved-out by New York composer Kai Gross, with whom Anders frequently performs. Anders’ new songs are being released in a series of EP’s via iTunes. The first set, entitled “I Know A Hundred Ways To Die”, features the title track, a setting of the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem of the same name. The second set, “The Last Leaf Of Autumn” was released December 9th. The first groovy reinterpretations by Kai Gross were released on December 16, 2008. 2008 was a productive and busy year for Soren Anders, performing his new solo songs in London and Copenhagen, and recording and touring in the United States - couchsurfing all along the way like the hippie he is. 2009 is already more of the same, but just bigger, with four more releases planned and another trip to Europe. Anders is perhaps best known for creating the poly-genre experimental band Shimmerplanet (also available on iTunes). The music of Shimmerplanet was hailed as “a breakthrough creatively” (The Evolution Of Media). “It takes artistic courage to be this lyrically honest and musically experimental,” wrote Indie-Music.com. Awards from The Songwriters Hall Of Fame, The Independent Music Awards, and Talent In Motion Magazine followed. Anders has worked with 60s recording icon Lesley Gore, 80s recording icon Chris Stein (of Blondie), and recently scored and conducted a choir for one of his favorite bands, Menomena.
