I came across an article today about Live Nation waiving its service fees for lawn seats at concerts at amphitheatres across the United States. While these fee-free tickets are only available on Wednesdays and for certain shows, it may be a step in the right direction to put an end to these outrageous service fees that ticketing agencies charge for concerts these days.
What do you think about service fees? I hate paying them, but they seem inevitable. I bought two tickets to see U2 in October, and over $30 was in service fees! Have you cut down on the number of shows you see each year due to the service fees? With the slower economy, I had already cut back on my yearly concert intake, and these absurd service fees certainly don't help matters.
So where does it end? Or does it? Are you OK with paying these fees, as they've become pretty standard in the concert ticket-buying process? Or do you find them too outrageous to bother with seeing many concerts now?
